Major Highways

These major highways serve southwest Indiana:

• Interstate 64 – East-west access to Louisville, Kentucky, and St. Louis Missouri; plus Interstate connections in all directions
• Interstate 69 – Connects Interstate 64 and Indiana 57 to U.S. 41 near Evansville, Indiana and presently extends to Indianapolis, Indiana.
• U.S. 41 – 4-lane access to Chicago, Illinois, and Miami, Florida; connects to the Kentucky Parkway System; connects to Interstate 24 (Nashville, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia)
• Indiana 62 – East-west access across southern Indiana
• Indiana 66 – Scenic east-west access along the Ohio River
• Indiana 57 – Access to the areas northeast of the region, including part of the proposed interstate route, connecting Indiana to Canada

Major Highway Improvement Projects

• Interstate 69 – Currently under construction
  • Presently extends to Indianapolis, Indiana, to Port Huron, Michigan, and the Canadian border
  • Will soon connect Evansville, Indiana, to Indianapolis, Indiana
  • To the south of Evansville, Indiana, the proposed Interstate route extends to the Mexican border

Several area ports offer rail-to-water transload facilities, extensive storage areas, and a wide range of services:
