SOUTHWEST INDIANA DIVERSITY
Southwest Indiana embraces and celebrates the world's diverse cultures with regional events and businesses that reflect and support a variety of cultures.
For example:
- The Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council certifies and connects minority business enterprises with corporations who are committed to purchasing their products and services.
- International Week at the University of Southern Indiana, showcases dance, films, and other cultural entertainment forms, as well as the International Club Food Expo, all open to the public.
- Restaurants and grocery stores offer foods and ingredients from various cultures, such as Flavor of India Restaurant, the award-winning Nagasaki Inn Japanese Steak and Sushi restaurant, and many others listed in the table below and elsewhere on this website.
- Among the various cultural festivals and events is Germania Männerchor Volksfest, a celebration of German heritage, with traditional food and drink, music, and dancing.

Lyles Station Community Museum
Lyles Station Consolidated School
Built in 1919, the Lyles Station Consolidated School has played a vital role in sustaining Indiana's sole remaining African-American settlement. Now operating as a museum and heritage education center for school children and adults, Lyles Station Consolidated School visitors experience the classroom environment and educational techniques of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
