Southwest Indiana attractions contribute greatly to the quality of place of the region.
For example:
- Burdette Park offers many types of outdoor recreation for the family, including tennis, golf, fishing, camping, biking, and an Aquatic Center with pools, slides, a raft ride, and spray fountains.
- The 160-acres of natural wetlands at Gibson Lake Wildlife Habitat provide visitors the opportunity to view Bald Eagles, endangered Least Terns, and a variety of other wildlife.
- A living maze stands in New Harmony, Indiana as a tribute to the community’s founders, the Harmonists. The Harmonist Labyrinth, restored in 1939, is open year-round to the public.
- Built in 1862, Newburgh Country Store is one of the oldest brick buildings in Newburgh, Indiana, and showcases early American architectural features and nostalgic Americana.

This 1776 structure, the oldest in historic New Harmony, is showcased as it would have looked when the Harmonist settlers came to the area in the early 1800s. Community-living demonstrations are provided during special events and tours.
Barn Abbey
A peaceful family or corporate event and retreat facility with a fireplace and other amenities. Suitable for meetings of 25 to 50 people; overnight accommodations for up to 28 people.
Harmonist Labyrinth
Restored in 1939, this living maze is a tribute to the Harmonists. It stands near the site where their original shrubbery labyrinth was first grown and shaped.
New Harmony Atheneum
New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art
Since 1975, the not-for-profit gallery has promoted the artists and contemporary art of the Midwest.

Dedicated in 1960, this architectural landmark is an interdenominational church in a town with a rich religious heritage. With a design based on the concept that the sky is the only roof that can embrace all worshipping humanity, the facility is open for visitors and is used for weddings and other religious services.

Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage
With several sections already complete and in use, the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage will encircle the city of Evansville with 42 miles of pedestrian and bicycle trails. The passage will be part of the American Discovery Trail, an interstate system of trails across the U.S.

Visitors step aboard this floating museum. In operation during World War II, and later in the service of the Greek navy, this restored landing ship, tank has stories to tell, and military veterans as tour guides to help tell them.
Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve
This National Natural Landmark and State Nature Preserve includes more than 190 acres of forest, open to visitors. A nature center features exhibits, a library, gift shop, meeting room, and wildlife observation areas.
