July 1, 2010One Region, One Economy, One Voice July 2010

This month we’re following Toyota’s example and throwing a little “swagger”, a reference to the widely popular Sienna swgger wagon YouTube commercials, to the Coalition's Community Development Division, headed up by Debbie Bennett-Stearsman, for its outstanding efforts in grant activity.  In 2010, Debbie and her team, Jeff Pruitt and Wylie Zeigler, have garnered over 35 grant awards for Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties rulting in $9 million of funds flowing into our communities which leverages millions more in total project investment. To date, our four counties have seen a staggering $32,266,710 in total grant dollars over a four-year period.  Most of these projects could not have happened without the funding support from agencies such as the Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs (OCRA) and the Economic Development Administration (EDA).

Total Awarded Grants Per County (2006-2010):

Posey County - $2,288,290.38                         Gibson - $14,737,505.63
Vanderburgh - $6,012,500.00                           Warrick - $9,228,415.00

Efforts like those exhibited by Debbie and her team make the quality-of-life better for all of our residents and helps to attract both talent and businesses to our region.
