August 1, 2011Blueprint for Success

As most of you are aware, Garner Economics working with Newmark Knight Frank and Applied Marketing have completed the strategic report, A Blueprint for Success: A Master Plan for Economic Redevelopment. The final recommendations along with metrics, that is how we will measure success, will be unveiled to the Coalition Board of Directors on August 19. The recommendations are categorized under three areas of opportunity: product marketing – the marketing and selling of Southwest Indiana; product improvement – infrastructure and quality of place improvements; and, organizational – improvements to the Coalition’s structure such as staffing, budget and governance for effective service delivery.

The recommendations were based on an extensive analysis of the region’s assets as well as focus groups with more than 70 business and community leaders from Southwest Indiana. With me as their chauffer, the consulting team also drove more than 500 miles within Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties looking at neighborhoods, industrial areas, education institutions and key transportation infrastructure to name a few. The recommendations or next steps will require both commitment and collaboration along with a good line of communication to ensure success so as to improve the region’s economy.
