June 1, 2011Back Home Again (and missed the e-coli outbreak)

As a tie-in with the City of Evansville’s anniversary sister-city celebration with Osnabruck, Germany, the Coalition took advantage of the opportunity and travelled to Germany from May 7 through 15 meeting with various German companies in transportation, fluid management and solar industries. Some of the meetings were to introduce Southwest Indiana as a possible location and others were with companies who are considering Indiana for new investment.
The sister-city connection was a different experience than other sister-city visits. In particular, Osnabruck has a young professional ambassador exchange program with many of their sister-cities where a recent college graduate or current college student from a sister-city spends a year in Osnabruck representing the their community with the ambassador exposed to various business, government and cultural opportunities. In turn, Osnabruck sends a student ambassador to the respective sister-city for the same experience. Though the City of Evansville does not currently participate in the innovative program, the idea generated great interest from the Evansville delegation as a possible university exchange program for international business students enrolled in one of our local institutions. As the idea moves along, we’ll keep you apprised of its progress.
