Gibson County – Public Hearing

Gibson County Commissioners applied to Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) Blight Elimination Program (BEP).  Our application was successful.  Th County has now received a total award for the BEP of $1,627,000.  We have received an initial award of $1,440,000 on October 23, 2014 and an additional $187,000 in supplemental BEP funding on January 31, 2017.  Working in conjunction with Bill Beauchamp, Vinwood C. Gupta, Denver L. & Agnes E. Chavis, Nancy Akers, Nicholas D.  Burns, Diana Brewster, Donna M. Elpers Golday, Robert L. & Kathy Ritcheson, Stacy D. Ivers, Kellie R. Hatton, Thomas Johnstone and Habitat for Humanity of Gibson County we intend to acquire and demolish the following residential structures:

The goal of the BEP is to reduce the number of blighted and abandoned homes in our community and neighborhoods.  We believe the acquisition and demolition of these structures will stabilize neighborhood property values, prevent avoidable foreclosures, and assist us in our efforts to keep our community and neighborhoods safe.  We invite you to attend a public hearing at 1:00 p.m. (local time) on the 8th day of March, 2017 at the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, 318 Main Street, 4th Floor Training Room, Evansville, Indiana 47708 to discuss the positive impact this program will have on our community.

Posey County Commissioners applied to Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) Blight Elimination Program (BEP).  Our application was successful.  The County has now received a total award for the BEP of $793,000.  We received an initial award of $617,000 on October 23, 2014 and an additional $176,000 in Round 2 funding on February 27, 2015.  Working in conjunction with the Mount Vernon Redevelopment Authority, ATI, Inc., Ken Juncker, Stephen Loehr, Donald Lashbrook, John R. Walker Sr., and William Willaims we inted to acquire and demolish the following residential structures:
